NP owned and operated offering walk-in care (7 days a week) and primary care (by appointment) to West Fargo, Fargo, Horace, Casselton, Mapleton, Kindred and Osgood.
Allergies can be controlled with over the counter medications such as Allegra, Zyrtec, Claritin or Xyzal, if taken on a daily basis, like early spring when the pollen is at its height, you may need additional help controlling the symptoms of runny eyes, itching, sneezing etc. We can help with this.
Allergies and the common cold can be mistaken for a sinus infection. If you have a history of sinus and allergy issues and over the counter medications aren’t working, you may need to be seen.
Have you ever gotten stung by a bee, wasp, hornet or deer fly? Some individuals have allergic reactions to these bugs and need interventions such as epinephrine and oxygen when there is throat, tongue, lip swelling with “stridor” or noise of breathing through a swollen space like the throat.
Dog and cat bites need immediate attention, usually we do not close these types of bites but depending on where and how deep and large the site is the ED will see you. We do treat all dog and cat bites with an antibiotic as the saliva of these animals can be very damaging resulting in a blood infection. A cat bite to the hands will quickly swell as the hands have limited space for fluid to move.
At times an individual can be sent home from the hospital or clinic with dressing changes to a surgical wound or abscess. You may not have the help you need or the problem is an area you cannot reach. We can help with this; we will have the wound products you need to be treated.
Neither lice nor scabies is something anyone wants to deal with in their home, but it happens. Both need to be treated and both should be appropriately diagnosed. Scabies can be in a lot of places, lice is usually confined to the scalp. Both are highly contagious.
Rashes can be a result of many different microbes. Most will need to be treated if they persist. Some people are born with rashes such as eczema and others develop because of body habits, sports, allergies, or viruses. Impetigo is one that needs to be treated with an antibiotic because of its contagious nature and risk for organ damage.
Herpes Zoster or shingles is another rash that needs to be treated as it is also contagious but more than anything, it is painful and one can have lasting nerve pain that should also be treated.
Herpes zoster follows a dermatome and is usually on one side of the body, starts out with an itch or pain and soon a red area with vesicles develops. This area can spread but again to the same area or in a band around your ribs, but just one side.Ā
If it starts on your face you need to be seen immediately. All zoster should be treated within 48 hours of breakout, sooner if possible.
Not all lacerations need to be sutured, some will do well with DermabondĀ® (glue) and others can be stapled. Both methods have proven themselves in large orthopedic and abdominal surgeries. The trick is to keep the site dry. You would be sent on to a clinic or the ED if we cannot manage the repair of the wound.
Warts on the hands can be embarrassing, plantar warts on the feet can be very uncomfortable. We can help with both! It takes very little time but they do need several visits to remove; some won’t go away and we can script for a wart removal medication but I must warn you it is expensive.
